If we get snow in Moray, it often falls in January or February. Thankfully with being a coastal community, it seldom lies for any length of time. The result can be fun in the snow at Duffus Castle without any major impact on travel!
Sledging at Duffus Castle
My favourite thing to have fun in the snow at Duffus Castle is to go sledging. The steep sides of the ancient motte are ideal for a thrilling ride. There will be fun for all the family with snowball fights, snow truly brings out the child in us all. It is so good for mental health and wellbeing to take the opportunity to play together.
Duffus House
Duffus House always looks particular atmospheric in the snow. Framed by the white landscape you can clearly see why so many fell in love with living here. The boys who boarded here whilst Duffus House was let out to Gordonstoun always loved it when it snowed. It is always exciting when snow falls.
Footprints in the snow
The last time we had snow my attention was captured by the animal tracks. There were deer tracks, pheasant tracks and a multitude of other bird prints. Sula, our dainty lurcher, left her prints all in a line. I suspect she always walks like this, but only in the snow could I see it! The Woodland Trust has a great page with more animal tracks you can see if you can spot in the snow.
Coorie Doon
After a day of active sledging or trekking through the snow, you will be delighted to cosy up in our holiday cottages. Use our complimentary logs to snuggle in front of the fire with one of the inviting throws there for your comfort. Coorie doon is Doric for cosy in, away from the winter elements.
