Our team at Duffus Estate is tight-knit
Like everything we do at the Estate, we put our heart and soul into our team and want them to feel part of the Duffus Estate family. We sent our team a few questions to share with you, read on to meet Jennifer, who has been with us since 2021.
Give us an insight into your daily routine at Duffus Estate?
Each morning, I log onto our network and check for holiday cottage enquiries, accounts invoices and check the website. My daily schedule includes drafting content for the website or adding some of our lovely reviews we receive, for instance. Then onto researching what events are happening in Moray and selecting the ones our guests will enjoy. As a result, it is onto crafting newsletters to send to them. A little book keeping each day keeps on top of the invoices for our recent stays, cross-checking with our booking system and ensuring all the data ties-up!
Every month I compile reports for book keeping, our point of sale system and our booking system to support decision making at our management meetings. Then there is our latest project (shh! top secret), more research and planning! Finally, I get to help out wherever needed, whether it is tasting the latest new product for Kula or helping to host when we have groups visiting the Estate.
Tell us a little about yourself….
Living in Moray is just the best because there’s so much to do. I have a fluffy terrier, Digger, who takes me walking around our coastline and through the woods, even up Ben Rinnes. I feel a real affinity with the sea and enjoy wild swimming and paddle-boarding. My favourite swim spot….can’t decide between Hopeman west beach or Hopeman east beach in front of the hutties. They both are super spots, one has a lovely curved bay, the other has some fab rocks to launch from. I enjoy pushing myself to keep doing things that challenge me, I firmly believe it keeps you centered. Our environment is ours to share and I do everything I can to look after it. This might be switching to ‘green’ cleaning products or using our local Re:Store to avoid excessive plastic packaging.
I’ve been leading a project to create a community space to promote biodiversity of flora and fauna and planting trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy. This will be a longer term project which will grow with our community.
What do you enjoy about working in the team at Duffus Estate?
I really enjoy working with the team at Duffus Estate. Often this is in the office working with Ed and Caroline, or out and about meeting with Gemma, Dave and the team at Kula. I love that no two days are the same. The team move forward with new ideas, whilst investing in making what we offer the best it can be. The grounds around Duffus House are peaceful and beautiful. So it is a thrill to spot a pine-marten or red squirrel always lift my spirits on the way to work.
