The Day HRH The Princess Royal came to visit

Ed and I were honoured to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to Duffus Estate in March when she visited Earthtime’s Forest School Nursery, based in our woodland.

She took time to speak to staff and children as she walked through the woods. She heard how Earthtime was the only outdoor nursery to have been chosen by Moray Council to be a childcare hub for children of key workers during the first lockdown in 2020.

The Princess Royal also planted an oak tree at Duffus House. This was to commemorate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. The children attending Earthtime also planted young saplings to form a new hedgerow.

HRH The Princess Royal

Ed and I were thrilled to hear that HRH The Princess Royal would be coming to visit. Her brother, Prince Edward, was in residence at Duffus House whilst it was leased to Gordonstoun for use as a boarding house. We worked with Earthtime to ensure that grounds were in tip top condition for the visit. The children were so excited on the day, no less so than the lovely team of staff, both for Earthtime and for Duffus Estate.

It was a wonderful day and a privilege to meet and chat to HRH The Princess Royal – not your average day in the office!
