Historic Duffus House
The historic family home of the Dunbar’s of Northfield since the late 1600’s, Duffus House was then leased to Gordonstoun School for 82 years. In August 2017 the house and Dunbar family entered a new phase when the lease to the school came to an end. For several years, Ed and Caroline have been working behind the scenes, deliberating how best to give Duffus House a new lease of life. An exciting future awaits!
Duffus House has been ‘home’ to many in the past, whether Dunbar family or school boys and staff, and we want all our future guests to feel they are being personally welcomed into a beautiful ‘home’ where they can slow down, relax and feel valued on every visit.

Cafe
Ed and I are passionate about our food and drink – we actually met whilst both on the Majestic Wine graduate scheme many moons ago!
We have always known we wanted to create a really special place to eat and drink within Duffus House, focusing on the amazing local larder that is produced in our fabulous area of North East Scotland.
We are delighted to have planning permission for a café as part of the redevelopment of the house, as well as space within it for private events. We look forward to the time when we can extend a truly warm welcome to our guests and customers at Duffus House.
In the meantime, there is potential for exciting pop-up outside dining events within the Estate grounds – if you’re a chef who is interested in a possible collaboration, please get in touch for a chat.

Shop
Part of the redevelopment of Duffus House includes retail space where we intend selling quality home and garden gift items. Please revisit this page once Duffus House is open for full details of our retail experience.

Stay
With exciting redevelopment plans of the house now in motion, we’ll soon be adding an additional three self catering apartments and four B&B suits to our accommodation options here at Duffus. Watch this space for news of the redevelopment.
