Sustainability – this word is used a lot! We are truly committed to finding ways to make our business more sustainable and have swapped plastic cartons for milk churns!
We recently swapped our Kula milk supplier to local micro dairy @lowermilloftynet – this resulted in an immediate reduction in our plastic waste. Basically, we were recycling around 16 4-pint cartons of milk every week, or 64 cartons every month, or 832 every year. This has now dropped to almost nothing as our milk is delivered in churns, which are collected, cleaned and sterilised and delivered again the next week. This makes us happy and keeps Gordon’s cows busy!
Supporting local is hugely important to us & nearly everything we sell at Kula is produced in Moray. Consequently we are very proud of the Visit Scotland ‘Taste Our Best’ we hold in recognition of this.
We give our used coffee grinds to Daniel from @risingrootsmicrogreens. Daniel subsequently uses them as part of his compost for his salad leaves & veg plot. In effect, helping our journey towards sustainability.
You too can make a difference! Buy one of our @circularandco reusable cup, bring it back each visit and you’ll get discounted coffee at Kula. What’s not to love?
Are you a guest in one of our holiday cottages? Be more sustainable and enjoy your holiday! You can hire a bike and see our stunning coast under your own pedal power. Outfit Moray offer bike hire from Lossiemouth.
These examples, together with lots of smaller things, means we’ve proudly earned a Green Tourism Bronze Award.
